BIKE STORAGE
PBH-1R, Bike Lift
Q: Can I install the bike lift on a slanted ceiling?
A: Yes. Be sure to install the product with the front lift assembly (the piece with the locking mechanism) is at the higher point on the ceiling.
Q: How do I thread the rope through the pulley?
A: Please see the manual for a detailed drawing. The manual is available on-line and can be easily printed on our Tips and FAQs page.
Q: How do I lower the bike from the raised position?
A: Pull the rope back toward the other pulley, maintaining tension on the rope. Slowly let the rope out as the bike lowers. If the rope is released too quickly, it will again engage the locking mechanism. Before raising or lowering the ladder, clear all people and obstructions from under the bike.
Q: What is the weight capacity of the Bike Lift?
A: The weight limit of the bike lift is 50lbs.
Q: Can I replace the rope that came with the Bike Lift?
A: Yes, replace with a 5/16 inch braided rope.
Q: Can the Bike Lift be used on ceilings higher than 12 feet?
A: Yes, but you will need to replace the existing 48’ rope with a rope that is longer. The diameter of the rope should still be 5/16” and should be a braided rope.
Q: The area that I want to mount the bike lift to does not have a ceiling joist. Can I mount into the drywall?
A: No, it is not recommended to mount to drywall. Secure a board to a 1 foot x 4 foot board to the ceiling joists and then attach the bike lift to the board.
PLB-2R, Gravity Bike Rack
Q: I received to many left or right arms on the gravity bike rack?
A: The arms shipped with the Gravity Bike Stand are actually universal; the bike hook at the end can be flipped in the other direction, to facilitate use on the right or left side of the bike stand. To do this, take the cap off the end of the arm, and loosen the screw in the bike hook. Flip the hook the desired direction, and tighten the screw. Replace the cap.
PSB-2L, Double Folding Bike Rack
Q: On a women’s bike, the top tube or cross-bar is angled down. How do you store a women’s bike on the bike rack?
A: With a standard woman’s bike hang one side under the top tube or cross-bar and hang the other side on the inverted “v” under the frame, where the seat post and rear wheel post meet. Note that the bike will be at a different angle than a man’s bike, and the bike rack should be installed at a height that allows for this.
PSB-1R, Single Folding Bike Rack
Q: On a women’s bike, the top tube or cross-bar is angled down. How do you store a women’s bike on the bike rack?
A: With a standard woman’s bike hang one side under the top tube or cross-bar and hang the other side on the inverted “v” under the frame, where the seat post and rear wheel post meet. Note that the bike will be at a different angle than a man’s bike, and the bike rack should be installed at a height that allows for this.
GARAGE STORAGE
PHL-1R, Ceiling Storage Lift
Q: Can I mount the Heavy Lift on a slanted ceiling?
A: Yes. In order to do this, you will just need to adjust the cables through the nylon rings on the cable assemblies, so that the platform will suspend evenly.
Q: Is the Heavy lift and the Ceiling Storage Lift the same product?
A: Yes, they are the same product. Only the name has changed.
Q: When the Heavy Lift is raised completely, what is the clearance from the ceiling?
A: When raised completely, the PHL-1R will be 10” to 12” from the ceiling. Of course, if you have tall objects stored on the lift the clearance will be greater.
Q: When assembling the platform, the wire beam supports will not lay flat when I tighten the J-Hooks?
A: When you install the platform only hand tighten the J-hooks. Once the unit is completely assembled then tighten the hooks securely.
Q: Once assembled the platform will not lay level, how do you level the platform?
A: If one side of the platform is higher, adjust cable through the nylon ring giving more cable to the side that is higher. For smaller adjustments, loosen the nuts on the eye bolt and adjust as necessary. Re-tighten the nuts on the eye bolt.
Q: Can I put longer cables on the Ceiling Storage Lift so that it lowers all the way to the floor?
A: The Ceiling Storage Lift lowers approximately 8 feet from the ceiling. Adding longer cables may interfere from the cables winding on the spindle causing the platform to raise and lower inconsistency. Altering the product will void any warranties.
Q: Can I change the size of the platform or use my own platform?
A: The performance of the product has not been tested using a different platform and altering the product will void any warranties.
Q: The grear drive on the Ceiling Storage Lift has become more difficult to turn. Should I add lubricant to the gear drive?
A: We do not recommend performing maintenance on the gear drive. Please contact our customer service department and describe the specific problem for resolution of this issue.
